I’ve always been fascinated by people and their perceptions of the world because their concepts and thoughts are reliable indicators and predictors of how they might be creating their realities.
For example, when I’m in the checkout line at my favorite grocery store, the cashier always greets me and asks whether I have found everything I need.
I’ll respond appropriately and then ask the individual about himself or herself. Often the answer I get is something like,”… I’ll be better in and hour and a half because that’s when I get off work …” or “… I can’t stand the weather … I wish it would stop raining …”
Since my life mission speaks to helping people achieve financial freedom and prosperity, I will generally offer a nugget or even a question in response.
To the clock watcher, I smile and ask, “Imagine for a moment that you are eager and willing, but unable to work. How would that change your perception of that last hour and a half in your shift?
To the weather worrier, I reply simply, “The terrific thing about all this rain is it helps us to appreciate the sunny days even more!”
Sometimes the looks I get are quizzical. Other times I get a subtle nod of understanding or even a grin.
If you think these statements are merely the linguistic equivalent of changing your socks, think again. The responses are designed to refocus thoughts, neutralize negativity and reprogram for gratitude.
Why is gratitude so important to achieving financial freedom and producing prosperity?
Because it opens your mind to manifesting all that you desire.
In his book Betting On Yourself: Step by Step Strategies for the Total Winner,
Dr. Robert Anthony says:
‘When you have an attitude of gratitude you are living with the positive affirmation that there is no real lack in your life. And once you freely acknowledge this, you will be able to activate the seed of abundance that must inevitably produce more.’
Think about how frequently you compare yourself to others.
Do you look at friends and wish you had their cars?
Do you envy neighbors and wish you lived in their houses?
Looking outward and measuring your differences against another is a recipe for a lifetime of discontent because there will always be someone who has more.
Instead, be grateful for what you have and let go of any self-limiting beliefs. Only then will you start your journey to financial freedom.
As always, I appreciate your comments and feedback. See you in a few days …..
